(more…)The Cell C Sharks team to face Harlequins at the Stoop, in the final pool match of the Heineken Champions Cup on Saturday, was announced today.
(more…)The Cell C Sharks has named a strong 28-man touring squad, who will travel tonight to London for their Heineken Champions Cup last pool match against Harlequins on Saturday.
(more…)So if you’re like me and a bit confused and concerned, as to how the rest of the Cell C Sharks season in the Heineken Champions Cup and United Rugby Championship might play out, here is a bit more information of the Heineken Champions Cup play-offs, as well as United Rugby Championship log and next two months games.
(more…)The Cell C Sharks to face Bordeaux Bègles on Saturday is probably the strongest side they could have selected from the available players.
(more…)The Cell C Sharks confirmed today that Sprinbok skipper Siya Kolisi was granted an early release from his contract, to join French club Racing 92 after the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
(more…)Lourens Adriaanse has been diagnosed with lymphoma cancer and is currently on treatment. He has therefore decided to retire from professional rugby and focus on regaining his health. He plans to finish his articles in accounting.
Lourens contributed to the Sharks team from 2014-2017 and again since 2021. We wish him a speedy recovery and all the best in his new career.
The Sharks traveled to Ellis Park just before the weekend and managed to edge the Lions by 45-43 scoring 7 tries to the hosts’ 6. Scorers for the Sharks: Penxe, Bholi, Fassi 2, Jooste 2, Abrahams.
New signings Rohan Janse van Rensburg and Vincent Tshituka did not feature in the extended squad.
(more…)The Sharks have gained 7 new players for a loss of 8. Lionel Cronje will be back along with new signing Rohan Janse van Rensburg to add some direction to the Sharks back line. The Sharks however do loose 3 centres in Marius Louw, Jeremy Ward and Rynhardt Jonker.
All the best for all the players that contributed at the Sharks. Sad to see stalwarts like Ruben van Heerden and Sbu Nkosi leaving but sometimes a move to a new environment gets a player’s career back on track – just ask Madosh Tambwe.
High profile signing Eben Etzebeth is unlikely to feature for the Sharks until next year. The names of Carlu Sadie and Vincent Tshituka should definitely appear in URC team announcements though.
(more…)With the imminent arrival of Neil Powell the Sharks have revamped their coaching structure. New additions Yannick Bru and Joey Mongalo (poached from the Bulls) will add a lot of value too.
(more…)Yesterday the Sharks announce the signing of Vincent Tshituka from the Lions on a three year deal. At only 23 he will be one to watch for the future. He’s also not a small lad at 1.95m and 107kg. Some good performances placed him on the Bok radar but before that can happen he will need to get his SA passport. Although the Sharks loose forward department is well stocked for now I’m sure he will add value and further depth to the Sharks loose forward pool.
Today the Sharks announce the signing of another Lions player in Carlù Sadie. The 25 year old will join the Sharks on a 2 year contract and will for sure help to prop up the tight head department.
And there is yet another new player signing announced. Well not totally new as Lionel Cronje previously played for the Sharks. The 32 year old Cronje signed a 2 year contract.
