(more…)The Sharks will have none of their Boks (Ox Nche was particularly industrious in Scotland) available for the home game against the Stormers. That means Ntuthuko Mchunu and Carlü Sadie will start in the front row with Dian Bleuler and Hanro Jacobs on the bench. Likewise Cam Wright (who had a very good game except for the decision to box kick with 25 seconds left on the clock) will start at 9 with Bradley Davids on the bench.
(more…)In what can only be seen as the new norm, the Cell C Sharks team to face Edinburgh in Scotland on Saturday evening was announced today.
(more…)So if you’re like me and a bit confused and concerned, as to how the rest of the Cell C Sharks season in the Heineken Champions Cup and United Rugby Championship might play out, here is a bit more information of the Heineken Champions Cup play-offs, as well as United Rugby Championship log and next two months games.
(more…)Due to the Sharks crazy travel schedule (was this not supposed to be better than Super Rugby?) Neil Powell has decided to keep most of his first choice players at home to prepare for the home game against Bordeaux. The team that will face Connacht has a sprinkling of A level players like Ntuthuko Mchunu, Carlü Sadie, Henco Venter, Rohan Janse van Rensburg and Grant Williams but also includes 3 debutantes on the bench as well as a number of players who has not played for a while.
(more…)The Cell C Sharks last game for 2022 is against the Vodacom Bulls at Hollywoodbets Kings Park.
The Sharks team will go into the game with some confidence as they won their last four games across the URC and the Heineken Champions Cup, but that will count for little when they face a strong and well coached Bulls side.
Neil Powell has rested a number of players for the home game against the Lions – Eben Etzebeth, Bongi Mbonambi, Ntuthuko Mchunu and Francois Venter. Siya Kolisi and Ben Tapuai will feature from the bench.
(more…)Neil Powell has drafted a number of Boks to assist the struggling Sharks as well as starting Curwin Bosch at 10 after months of layoff. Vincent Tshituka at 4 lock and Sikhumbuzo Noshe at 6 flank are interesting selections. Ben Tapuai will add some experience and direction to the back line.
(more…)The Sharks will also (on top of Mbonambi, Etzebeth, Kolisi, Hendrikse and Mapimpi) be missing Thomas du Toit, Ntuthuko Mchunu and Grant Williams due to Bok duties. James Venter will captain the team on Sunday with Rohan Janse van Rensburg (back from suspension) partnering Francois Venter in the midfield. Anthony Volmink runs from 15 in place of the injured Aphelele Fassi, while Lionel Cronje and Ben Tapuai are also back from injury.
(more…)The Sharks will be without their Bok squad for the game on Sunday against the Bulls. New recruit Francois Venter slots straight into the 13 jersey (not sure if Marnus Potgieter deserved to drop to the bench though). Fiery Gerbrandt Grobler is back from injury layoff to start in the number 4 jersey. Cameron Wright will start at 9 with Grant Williams back from injury on the bench.
