Coaching changes
The Sharks have now implemented the coaching changes that was hinted at:
Firstly JPP has now been appointed as the permanent head coach of the Sharks team. Scott Mathie will join as the new attack coach next season and as far as I can tell Warren Whitely, Philip Lemmer and Joey Mongale will retain their assistant positions.
Neil Powell will no longer look over the coach’s shoulder but will become the new Head of Junior Rugby.
Dave Williams is moved to General Manager overseeing all High Performance functions. There were also talk of him taking a temporary consulting position at the US Eagles until 2027 – not sure if this is still on?
A new structure has been created to support both the Senior and Junior rugby programmes and will comprise the following departments:
- Medical Health & Recovery
- Athletic Performance
- Data, AI & Analytics
- Operations & Logistics
- Technique & Skills (New)
- Player Affairs & Culture (New)
Bit of a travesty that Technique & Skills is only now created as a New department but better late than never.
